Varsity girls volleyball triumphed over Monta Vista in a three-game match Tuesday, September 30. The scores of the games were 25-18, 25-12 and 25-19.
The Eagles were able to secure their victory through their success in maintaining the serve. Despite its good returns, Monta Vista could not recover once Los Altos was given this edge.
“We were able to win in three by staying consistent in the games and making a run and then keeping the lead,” senior Carmen Annevelink said. “They got a lot of balls up, but we just kept playing smart and putting the ball where they weren’t.”
The Eagles’ defense also was imperative to their success. Even when they lost the serve, strong receiving allowed them to recover.
“I think our serve-receive was our best asset tonight,” Carmen said. “We were able to convert on most of their serves and not let them make many runs.”
Regardless of opponent, the Eagles aim to maintain their high level of play. The team’s consistency shows in their record: 12 wins to three losses.
“[Monta Vista] was not our hardest opponent but the team still came out strong” Carmen said. “We want to make sure that we are playing our level of volleyball no matter who we are playing.”
