Girls Tennis Falls Short Against Monta Vista
On Tuesday, October 7, the varsity girls tennis team lost to Monta Vista High School. The Matadors defeated Los Altos 5-2.
Monta Vista has been known to be a strong competitor. Last year, Monta Vista was the CCS runner up, raising the bar of competition in the local region.
However, the defeat was not a crushing one, as all of the matches were very close. For example, Los Altos’ number three singles player, senior Whitney Mathews, only lost her match after splitting sets and fighting into a tough tie-breaker.
Other highlights of the match included Los Altos’ number one and two singles players, junior Carina Burdick and freshman Nadia Ghaffari, taking the team’s two wins.
“I think we did very well today, and we need to focus on being more aggressive,” Carina said.
The team will reflect on today’s game as it heads into its next game on Thursday, October 9, against Mountain View.
