Varsity Girls Water Polo Loses Narrowly to Los Gatos

The varsity girls water polo team lost 5-7 in a close match at home today, September 26, against Los Gatos. Two players were ejected in the first half of the game, which made it difficult for the team to rally and finish strong.

“If we had picked up momentum earlier in the game the outcome could have been different…Two of our starters were kicked out early in the game, and our second string really stepped up,” senior Casey Vanneman said.

Despite the disappointing result, team leaders felt as though the experience strengthened some of the other bench players, who received increased playing time due to the exclusions.

“Our second string players worked hard and we were tied for awhile, we just fell behind at the end by two goals…the more we practice, the better our season looks,” senior Jenna Gavenman said.

The Lady Eagles play next this weekend in the Amanda Mac tournament.
