Varsity Girls Basketball Falls 48-61

The varsity girls basketball team lost 48-61 to Monta Vista High School in its third league game of the season yesterday, January 11. The girls found themselves playing catch-up until Monta Vista broke away in the fourth quarter.

“We just need to start playing earlier in the game,” senior Lauren Amorese said.

Although this was the Eagles’ second loss in the league games, it proved to the team that they are capable of being one of the strongest teams in the league. The team is doing incredibly well in comparison to last year’s regular season, finishing its pre-season with an even record of 6-6.

“The coach has us working to have sound fundamentals, which is really important, [and] was lacking in the past,” Lauren said. “People are starting to step up and find their strengths to contribute to the team.”

The team considers two losses enough for the season, and believes that they are capable of winning the rest of the games.

Their next game will be against Fremont High School on Friday, January 13 at 6:15 p.m. at home.
