The Tutorial Center will be holding its annual Essay Days to help seniors with writing their college application essays. The Essay Days, which are free of charge, will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including lunch periods.

The writing coaches for the program are professional writers, newspaper columnists, interviewers or members from a college application panel. The coaches volunteer their time to help students narrow down possible essay topics or to proofread and polish preexisting essays.

“[The school] is lucky to have these professionals to help us with Essay Days,” Tutorial Center Coordinator Quyen Nguyen said. “Students come back and tell them how much they appreciated it.”

The idea for Essay Days originated sixteen years ago when Nguyen, a parent volunteer at the time, noticed an English teacher who had devoted the entire day to helping students with their essays. Since the volunteer was unable to return, Nguyen developed the idea of creating special days where students could receive individual help on college essays.

The Essay Days will be held on Tuesday, September 27, Tuesday, October 11, Tuesday, October 25, Tuesday, November 8, and Tuesday, November 22.
