Track and Field Team Participates in Christopher Garlic Classic

On Saturday, March 23, the Los Altos track and field team participated in the third annual Christopher Garlic Classic, held at Gilroy High School. This larger track meet attracts high schools from cities all over California, from Santa Cruz to San Mateo.

As one of the bigger meets of the season, the Christopher Garlic Classic gave the track and field team more experience and prepared them for the rest of the year’s events. The team hopes that their hard work will prepare them for larger events and allow them to achieve their best results of the season.

Events spanned the entire day, starting at 9 a.m. and ending in the late afternoon. Los Altos students competed in a widespread number of events ranging from triple jump to 400 meter dash to discus. Much of the work throughout the season proved successful, as Los Altos saw many successful top finishes.

The school’s leading finishes included senior Daniel Yeager’s top place finish in the varsity 110 meter hurdles. Other notable performances included freshman Lauren Jacob’s fourth place finish in the girls varsity 1600 meters and seniors Josh Cohen and Alex Carr’s fourth and fifth place finishes in the boys varsity 1600 meters, respectively.
