Track and Field Prevails Over Saratoga

The Los Altos track and field team defeated Saratoga High School today, April 4, in their fourth meet of the season. Both the boys and girls varsity teams outdistanced Saratoga by a considerable margin, scoring 94 and 74 points respectively. After extremely close, competitive meets against Palo Alto and Lynbrook, this victory has improved the Eagles’ season record to 2-2.

“Palo Alto is our toughest competition of the year and we let Lynbrook slip away a bit,” junior Konrad Niemiec said. “But there were amazing performances on all sides of the track that meet, and we did just as well there as we did today.”

Many events at the meet were entirely dominated by Los Altos, namely the boys 100 and 1600 meter races. The boys team ended up with a 61-point lead, scoring 94 points compared to Saratoga’s 33. The girls team’s score was closer, with the Eagles holding a 21-point lead.

With a fourth meet under their belt, the team is becoming ever more cohesive and focused, and has improved across all events.

“There were a number of PRs, and in general, the team is bonding together and working hard and being focused,” Konrad said. “Our coaches are doing an excellent job pumping us up and training us in preparation for our competitions.”

With this meet behind them, the Eagles have already shifted focus to their next one, which will take place Thursday, April 18, at home. The Eagles will be competing against their arch-rival, Mountain View.
