Track and Field Members Place in De Anza League Trials

The track and field team competed in the De Anza League trials against Saratoga, Milpitas, Palo Alto, Gunn and Lynbrook yesterday, May 1. Those who placed in their events will advance to the De Anza League Finals tomorrow, May 2.

The girls 4×100 meter relay varsity placed second, and the boys 4×100 meter relay varsity placed third out of the seven teams in the DAL league.

For the individual events, senior Austin Bowie and junior Josh Cohen ranked second and third respectively in the second heat of the varsity boys 1600 meter run, and freshman Annelise Gallhagher placed third in the first heat of the varsity girls 1600 meter run and placed second in the first heat of girls 800 meter run varsity.

Junior Daniel Yeager placed second in the boys 110 meter hurdles varsity with a time of 15.58 seconds, and first in the varsity boys 300 meter with a time of 39.57.

The Eagles also fared well in the field events. Junior Louise Stephan ranked first in girls long jump varsity, junior Taylor Peterson ranked third in girls high jump varsity, junior Michael Johnson ranked first in boys triple jump varsity and freshman Elizabeth Li ranked fourth in girls triple jump varsity with a total distance of 30 feet and 10 inches.
