Boys Tennis Off to Strong Start Despite Loss

On Tuesday, March 11, boys tennis battled against Cupertino. Los Altos won overall with a score of 5-2, winning all of its four singles matches and its third doubles. After defeating Palo Alto and Gunn in its two past league games 4-3, the Eagles maintained their winning streak with this victory.

“We were pretty happy to get the win because Cupertino had beaten Monta Vista, one of our main rivals, just the week before,” senior co-captain Braden Holt said.

The Eagles then faced Monta Vista on Thursday, March 13 at home. Because Los Altos had beaten Cupertino who had previously beat Monta Vista, the Eagles went into their matches confident. As the matches winded down, the two teams were 3-3 and it all came down to the the third doubles. This match went into a third set in which the Eagles lost.

“It was pretty hard on the team as the first loss in league for the year,” senior captain Braden Holt said. “We weren’t in the best mood after the match but we will keep our heads up and we are actually going to play them again on Tuesday. We hope to change a couple things around for the match and try it again.”

The Eagles will face Monta Vista once again this Tuesday, March 18 at home and hopes this time the lineup changes will enable them to defeat their rivals.
