Swimming Succeeds at CCS

On Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16, the boys swimming team competed in the CCS swim meet. Going into the meet with only three individual events and two relays, the team ended up eleventh in CCS, surpassing all expectations.
“We were league champions by a long shot, and we did way better at CCS then we were expected to do,” swimmer senior Ryan Hanni said. “The guys really stepped it up this year.”
Ryan, along with senior Neal Winterbothem and juniors Tucker Arth and Scott Stephens made up the relay team, which competed in both the 200 free and the 400 free. The team placed sixth in the 200 and ninth in the 400. Both events had All American times and shattered previous school records with 1 minute 26.63 seconds and 3 minutes 11.12 seconds respectively.
Ryan also competed in two individual events, the 50 free and 100 free; he placed second in both. Ryan swam against the best in CCS, and stated that he was, “very pleased with the way that his season turned out.”
“We did so much better this year—we got eleventh in CCS in the 200 relay which was much better then we did last year,” Ryan said.
