Streaker Makes Lunchtime Run Across Campus

A streaker ran across the quad Friday, March 20, wearing nothing but a mask and waving a Russian flag. Students then hurried over in the direction that he had run.

According to Assistant Principal Ralph Cave, no school staff was close enough to catch the streaker while he was on campus.

However, the administration does think they have the identity of the streaker narrowed down. They believe it was a student from another school but declined to name the school or whether it is part of the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District.

“Some names have been turned over, so we pretty much know who it was,” Principal Wynne Satterwhite said.

The students want to know the identity of the streaker for different reasons.

“We don’t know who he is, that’s the problem,” junior Geoff Stanley said. “I think he’s so awesome though. He’s just so awesome.

Reactions were generally admiring.

“I would never have the bravery to do it,” junior Jonathon Jecker said. “But I really love the kid who did it.”

“He just did it because he likes doing it and thought it’d be funny,” an anonymous source who knows the streaker said.

“He’s done it before,” the source said. “He does it a lot.”

The administration is taking a more serious stand on the situation. According to Cave, streaking is a sex crime and a felony.

According to Cave, the Los Altos Police Department is conducting an investigation.

“What people don’t realize is that it doesn’t go away,” Cave said. “It stays on your record for a long, long time.”
