Softball Maintains Momentum, Defeats Saratoga 6-0 in CCS Quarterfinals

After crushing Branham High School 10-0 in the first round of CCS last Wednesday, the softball team continued its CCS run by defeating Saratoga High School 6-0 on Saturday, May 18 in the CCS quarterfinals at the San Jose PAL Stadium.

Saratoga was the league champion of the lower division, and although Los Altos was unsure of how tough the Falcons would be as competition, the Lady Eagles had a strong focus on hitting throughout the game, patiently waiting to make every hit precise and strong.

“As soon as we started hitting off of their pitcher, winning was easier and we had no problem holding them to no runs,” senior Tianna Vasquez said.

Now, Los Altos is looking ahead at its next game against Gilroy High School, in the semifinals of CCS on Wednesday, May 22 at the PAL Stadium. Gilroy defeated Archbishop Mitty High School 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Mitty is expected to be tough competition.

“Even though we lost to them last year, I still think we have a chance of winning and going all the way to the championships,” Tianna said. “In this next game we really need to focus on playing as a team and letting the other team make mistakes so that we can capitalize on those mistakes, because that’s what we do best.”
