Charlie Kokernak – Cross Country
Senior Charlie Kokernak began running as a member of the school’s varsity cross-country team this year. Charlie, who was on junior varsity last year, worked hard over the summer to become one of varsity’s fastest male runners.

“Everyday I did something,” Charlie said. “I would let myself not do anything.”

“Charlie has transformed himself through hard work and disciple,” Coach PattiSue Plumer said. “He transformed from an average JV runner to our top varsity runner.”

This season, Charlie has been appointed captain and is excited to take charge and emerge as a team leader, especially for the younger runners.

“I feel really good about being captain,” Charlie said. “It gives me something to do other than just running.”

Jamie Eng – Girls Tennis
Sophomore Jamie Eng is currently ranked as number one on the school’s varsity tennis team. She fell in love with the sport at age ten and has been playing competitively ever since.

“I like how it is different from all the other sports,” Jamie said. “It’s more individual.”

So far this season she is 2-10, but is excited to step up her game and take the challenge in front of her. She believes the competition is “tougher,” but she is ready to face whatever comes her way.

“It’s a really big jump for me because I’m playing really amazing players,” Jamie said.

Outside of school, Jamie plays tennis for a Northern California league and competes in tournaments for the league. Jamie is currently ranked 60th in the state, but she is working towards being in the top 20 or 30 and is considering playing in college.
