School Hosts Parent Information Night

The school hosted its annual parent information night yesterday, January 29, for the parents of current eighth grade students.

The night began at 5:45 p.m. in the large gym, with an opportunity for parents of prospective students to meet the coaches of the sports teams. The administration then gave an introduction to the school, and ASB President senior Ideen Seyed also spoke about the school climate from a students perspective.

“It was incredibly important for the parents,” Senior Class President John Lee said. “Many of them were new high school parents, and this was a night to learn more about the school atmosphere.”

Parents also had the opportunity to speak with counselors and receive in-depth information regarding course options. There was also a student panel that elaborated on aspects of campus life, from academics to student involvement.

The Latino Student Union (LSU) also presented the information to Spanish-speaking families.

“We wanted to create a welcoming space for Hispanic eighth grade families who might have questions or concerns about [Los Altos],” LSU president Glenda Vargas said. “We wanted to make sure that Spanish-speaking families understood all the details needed for a successful transition into high school.”
