School Hosts Annual Back-to-School Night

During the annual Back-to-School Night yesterday, September 1, parents met with the teachers of their students during brief 10-minute periods.

Parents were also shown an informational video after second period. In the video, school administrators asked parents for contributions to the MVLA Foundation and introduced many of the staff, administrators and student leaders of the school.

“I just try to tell them about the structure of the class and how to communicate, and try to give them some background on what their students will be learning, and how to approach the class to be successful,” history teacher Gabriel Stewart said.

Parents also bought items from the clubs selling products in the quad before and during Back-to-School Night.

“We’re starting a little bit earlier, and I think that may affect the traffic coming in,” Assistant Principal Cristy Dawson said. “I feel like typically we’ve had more people prior to the event. It looks like people are making some sales … We’re really looking good tonight, and I’m happy.”

Parents will be able to meet personally with teachers during the parent-teacher conferences in November.
