Santa Clara County to end indoor mask mandate on March 2; schools unaffected

Santa Clara County will lift its indoor mask mandate next Wednesday, March 2.

This decision follows the declining trend in county-wide COVID-19 cases, with the seven-day average for cases falling below 550. As per County policy, if the rolling seven-day average stays at or below 550 cases for another consecutive week, as expected, the indoor mask mandate will be removed starting next Wednesday, March 2.

However, the County will still strongly recommend indoor masking, regardless of the mandate’s status. In addition, this policy change doesn’t affect unvaccinated individuals, who will still be required to wear masks indoors, nor will it affect schools, which will continue to require masks.
