The Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District (MVLA) Board will vote on confirming Laura Stefanski as the new Assistant Superintendent during the board meeting on Monday, March 25. If confirmed, Stefanski will be replacing Steve Hope, who is retiring at the end of the school year after working for 36 years in the district.
Stefanski spent 23 years working in the MVLA Adult Education program as a General Educational Development (GED) teacher and a program coordinator. She has also served as both Assistant Director and Director of Adult Education.
Stefanski has taken a variety of roles in community leadership over the years. Among these, she has served as the Healthy Ventures steering committee chair and a Community Services Agency (CSA) board member. Additionally, she has been awarded for her contributions to Adult Education and was named the Association of California School Administrators Education Administrator, Region 8 in 2008.
Stefanski looks forward to the role of Assistant Superintendent.
“I am deeply honored to be nominated for this position,” Stefanski said in a press release. “I am following my mentor, Steve Hope, into a position that requires me to learn, listen, act and reflect. My goal is to meet the high standards of the district while maintaining a positive and nurturing work environment.”
