QB McLean Throws 4 Touchdowns in 27-0 Victory Against Woodside

Thanks to a stiffing defense and the accurate arm of sophomore quarterback Steven McLean, the Los Altos Eagles easily handled the Woodside Wildcats 27-0 on Friday, September 17.

A week after attempting just 7 passes in a 57-7 rout against Mills High School, Steven was responsible for all the Eagles’ scoring in this game. He threw two 14-yard touchdowns to senior Martin Aycott, the second a fade rout where Martin out jumped a corner back and just managed to keep his feet inbounds.

However, Steven was just as impressive with his throws, not only on the fade but also a 35-yard touchdown to junior wide reciever Daniel Eaton that he lasered between 3 defenders.

The final touchdown came on a 30-yard hitch route to a wide open senior wide receiver Joey Giacomini in the fourth quarter. He finished the game 8/14 for 117 yards and 4 TDs.

Steven was able to gash the Wildcats secondary thanks to another solid day from the running game though, which finished with 21 carries for 96 yards total.

Despite being physcially far larger than last weeks opponent, the Wildcats fared even worse against another dominating performance by the Eagles defense and defensive line.

The Wildcats did not score, and any momentum they had was killed by one of four fumbles thanks to tackles by senior Abel Kinard and juniors Moe Ceballos, Siaosi Schneider and Nolan O’Such.

In addition, the Eagles had five sacks, led by senior linebacker Tyler Stout with 2.0 and senior defensive end Abel Kinard with 1.5. Tyler also led the team with 9 tackles.

Having shown both effective running and passing attacks, the Eagles will present many problems for next week’s opponent, Santa Cruz High School.
