May 14–Dodgeball Player of the Day

Player: Aidan Mahoney

Team: The Tenacious Turtles

Today, May 14, dodgeball continued with great intensity. The most exhilarating game was between The Tenacious Turtles and Pirate Booties. Despite senior Anthony Otey’s clutch performance after being soloed down to one player, The Talon believes that junior Aidan Mahoney’s performance makes him deserving of the the title of Talon Dodgeball Player of the Day.

Despite losing the first game, Aidan led his team to victory against Pirate Booties.

“In the first game, we just got crushed because everybody was trying to do everything on their own, but in the second set we waited back, and let everyone get settled,” said Aidan.

The Tenacious Turtles stormed back and won the next two games. Aidan dodged balls narrowly while managing to get others out, and did everything he possibly could to stay in the game.

“I played baseball, so I know how to throw, and the key was just to throw at their legs so they wouldn’t catch it,” Aidan said. “And usually, all I think is don’t get out. So I try and do everything I can to make that happen.”

The Tenacious Turtles are optimistic about their victory and have high hopes for the rest of the tournament.

“We hope to at least make it to the semi-finals, a round further than last year,” Aidan said.
