LSU Hosts Informational Summit

The Latino Student Union hosted workshops for Latino parents to learn about high school life and prepare for college on Saturday, March 4. A speaker from the University of California of Santa Cruz came to talk to the parents.

The event also offered a daycare service for parents as they toured the informational fair.

“The purpose of the Summit was to make the Latin parents [were] more informed about what their kids will experience,” LSU Vice President junior Glenda Vargas said. “I felt like parents left that afternoon with very important information that they would have never known if they wouldn’t have attended the Summit.”

Usually, LSU hosts small informational meetings similar to the Summit the first Thursday of every month.

“We just felt like we needed more people to take advantage of this opportunity,” Glenda said. “So we opened it up to the community [on] Saturday.”
