The Los Altos Community Center is set to open on Saturday, October 2, after two years of construction. The center spans 24,500 square feet with outdoor seating, multipurpose rooms for community events, communal workspaces and a full catering kitchen. The center features an outdoor bocce ball court and space dedicated to recreational activities for teenagers, senior citizens and preschoolers. The center’s roof is full with solar panels, allowing it to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certified.

“From the dedicated spaces for seniors and teens to the environmental materials used in the design, this community center reflects our Los Altos’ values and priorities.” Los Altos Mayor Neysa Fligor said. “I am very excited that we will finally have a brand new community center that the entire Los Altos community can enjoy for years to come.”

In 2017, Los Altos approved a budget of over $38 million to build the new center. Construction was set to begin in September 2019, but was halted for one month due to the initial quarantine in March 2020.
