Juniors to take Early Assessment Program Exams
Juniors will be taking the 45-minute essay portion of the English Early Assessment Program (EAP) college readiness exam in their English classes next week.
The EAP exams serve as a placement exam for students going into CSUs and community colleges. The essay, in conjunction with the EAP questions taken during CST standardized testing, examine juniors’ readiness for college level work at the CSU’s and community colleges–potentially excluding students from needing to take remedial classes.
“All juniors are tested,” English teacher Keren Robertson said. “It’s just a pass-fail score; there’s no ranking or anything like that.”
Even though the test only affects those who go to the CSU’s and community college, those who do not intend to go to these colleges are still asked to sit for the exam.
