Jazz Band Performs in Eagle Theatre

The school’s jazz ensemble played a concert in the Eagle Theatre on Saturday, March 24.

The audience was packed with approximately 250 people audience members, after the group had worked for weeks to sell tickets by inviting friends and family and getting a write-up in the Town Crier.

Many of the songs featured members of the ensemble, such as seniors Justin Solle, Dane Kreisman, Audun Johnson, David Kay, Cory McClintic and Noah Schramm, as well as many others. The ensemble also played with professional bass trombone player, Steve Barnhill, who is the music director at Evergreen Valley High School.

“The concert was absolutely amazing,” Justin said. “It was the best jazz ensemble I have ever been a part of.”

Instrumental Music Director Ted Ferrucci sang the two classic Frank Sinatra songs, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “Come Fly with Me.” Singer Jamie Davis was also featured in about 10 arrangements of different songs, including “Nature Boy,” “My Funny Valentine,” “If You Want Me to Stay,” and “I Believe in You and Me” by Whitney Houston.

“Working with Jamie was so much fun,” Justin said. “He really clicked with the group and was getting to know us, getting us to relax and just play from our hearts and souls.”

The jazz ensemble has two more concerts this semester in March at Mountain View High School (MVHS) and Art in the Park in Los Altos.
