Injured Student Athlete Taken to Hospital
Freshman Catherine Li was rushed to the ER by ambulance after injuring her shin at track practice today, Monday, April 27. According to track head coach PattieSue Plumer, Catherine hit the underside of a hurdle while jumping, slitting her lower shin.
Assistant Principal Ralph Cave, Athletic Director Kim Cave and Principal Wynne Satterwhite reported to the field upon hearing about the incident.
According to Plumer, Catherine has been winning about “three to four” events per meet throughout the season.
“I think she’ll be back, hopefully by leagues,” Plumer said. “It’s a real big loss to the team and to her.”
Leagues begin on Tuesday, May 5. Plumer does not believe that Catherine will be recovered to compete by Thursday for the team’s last meet of the season.
