Google Donates Grant to Future AP Computer Science Class
The district has received a grant from Google for its AP Computer Science course, which is scheduled to be offered at both LAHS and Mountain View High School (MVHS) next year.
“[The grant is] somewhere in the neighborhood between 70 and 80 thousand,” Associate Superintendent Brigitte Sarraf said.
The grant money will be used to buy laptop carts for AP Computer Science, although they will also be available for use by other classes.
“I’m meeting …with the two potential teachers of the class in order to go through the list of items that are going to be bought to make sure it meets their specifications,” Sarraf said.
The type of computer that will be bought is yet to be decided. Whatever money is left over may be spent on teacher training.
