Girls Tennis Narrowly Loses 3-4 to Monta Vista
In arguably its toughest game of the season to date, the girls tennis team came up short against Monta Vista on Tuesday, October 8. The Eagles narrowly lost, winning three out of the seven matches.
Monta Vista has historically dominated girls tennis; the Matadors have been CCS champions five times in the past nine years and went undefeated in both 2011 and 2012. The Eagles’ competition was stiff on Tuesday.
Nevertheless, despite the stiff competition, the team nearly defeated the five-time CCS champions.
“We did really well… [Monta Vista has] a very talented team but we were right there with them and definitely gave them some tough competition,” senior Haley Jones said.
The Eagles now look to continue the season with their 4-3 record after a dominant win today, October 9, against Pinewood. The Eagles’ next game is away against rival Mountain View High School later today, October 10.
Given the Eagles are coming off a solid, but insightful experience against such a dominant team, the Eagles seem poised to win against the rival Spartans a second time.
