Girls Tennis Crushes Mountain View 7-0

Today, on September 19, girls tennis dominated Mountain View, winning every single match and adding a win to their league score, which currently stands at 1-1. The seven game sweep was highlighted by alternate Britney Chang’s 4-6 6-4 10-7 victory over Mountain View’s number four singles player.

In spite of a change in the singles lineup, senior Kacey Incerpi, who filled in the number one spot for sophomore Juliette Martin, cruised to a 6-0 6-1 win. Junior Whitney Matthews won 6-0 6-0 while playing number two and sophomore Carina Burdick defeated her opponent 6-2 6-1 at number three.

Despite the strong show from girls’ varsity tennis, there is still more work to be done. While Carina, along with Juliette, Kacey, and Whitney, all make up a solid singles core for the girls’ tennis team, the doubles section, however, is working on consistency and closing out points.

Unfortunately, during the match, windscreens were down on the doubles courts, allowing for more wind. Overall, the weather has been fair for tennis season.

Girls’ tennis will next play at Palo Alto High School on Tuesday, September 24.
