Girls Soccer Finishes Second in Palo Alto Winter Classic

The varsity girls soccer team played four games at the Palo Alto Winter Classic, from Wednesday, November 28, to yesterday, December 8. Of the four games they played, the Eagles won games against Menlo Atherton High School and Aragon High School, tied against Castilleja High School, and lost to Los Gatos High School.

Last year, the team clinched the first in the tournament by edging Palo Alto on penalty kicks. This year, the Eagles ultimately finished second in their group behind Los Gatos.

The Eagles played Castilleja in their first game, tying 1-1, with freshman Stephanie Kouvelas scoring off an assist from freshman Sara Friend.

Los Altos played its second game against Los Gatos, losing 0-1.

In its third game against the Aragon Dons, Los Altos won 2-0, with freshman Tess Wendelken scoring both goals and Stephanie Kouvelas assisting both.

Los Altos won its fourth and final game against Menlo Atherton High School, defeating them 2-0, with a header from junior Julia Goupil and a goal from junior Haleigh Miller.

The team will play its next game on Monday, January 7 against Saratoga. Come out to support the team!
