Fire Alarm Issues Solved

Two false fire alarms have been triggered within the past three days, one during sixth period on Monday, December 9, and the second during brunch today, December 11. Students returned to class 10 to 15 minutes after today’s false alarm.

The alarms were triggered due to Autoshop’s heating system. Autoshop has a vaulted ceiling, with a fire alarm sensor at its peak. The heater is directly under the peak of the ceiling, and as the weather has gotten colder, the heater has been used more frequently. As a result, hot air collected at the peak of the ceiling and triggered the sensor twice.

The school has quickly resolved the problem.

“We have made the necessary repairs to [the Autoshop] such that these false alarms will not occur anymore,” Assistant Principal Galen Rosenberg said.
