FCA Invites Stanford Athletes to Speak

On Friday, March 7, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club (FCA) held a meeting in the 900 wing and brought in two Stanford baseball players, pitcher A.J. Vanegas and outfielder Taylor Wayne, to discuss the college athlete experience and the role of faith in their lives.

The two were interviewed by FCA staff spokesperson Rigo Lopez in front of a crowd of about 30 students.

“It was almost like going to church but it was more engaging,” senior Steven Lee said. “It was not as based in scripture but rather a more relatable situation, a watered down version of church. It was good to experience.”

Students asked questions about Vanegas and Wayne’s favorite Bible verse and how they’ve struggled with faith through their lives. Books relating baseball and faith were handed out afterwards.
