FBLA Competes in State Leadership Conference, Qualifies for Nationals

20 members of the school’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter attended the State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Ontario, California from Thursday, April 10, to Sunday, April 13. The chapter had numerous placings and qualified for the National Leadership Conference (NLC), to be held in Nashville Tennessee from June 29 to July 2 this summer, for the fourth straight year.

Members Katherine Yeh, Alina Chen, Elaine Zhao, Katherine Liu, Derek Mark, Brooker Martin, Veronica Hsu, Emiley Kim, Veronica Mark and Michelle Deng finished within the top 10 in the state for their respective events, while seniors Katherine Liu, Katherine Yeh, Alina Chen and Elaine Zhao qualified for the National Leadership Conference.

With strong performances at both the Bay Section Leadership Conference earlier this year in March and now at SLC, the team looks to carry over its success into next year’s competitions.

“I think this year we’ve created a really strong foundation even though we’ll have several seniors leaving after graduating this semester,” Club president senior Katherine Liu said. “In terms of competitions, we plan to focus on projects and team events–creating more events and opportunities for members to get involved with, both inside and outside of FBLA.”
