Diving Team Sends Three Athletes to CCS
The boys and girls diving team competed in the league finals today, April 30. The Eagles not only performed well but also came to the meet with a significantly larger team than that of previous years.
“I think we did very well,” junior Austin Campitelli said. “A lot of us qualified for CCS, so that’s good.”
Austin and senior Lindsay Emrick qualified for CCS for the girls, while senior Miles Contreras qualified for the boys.
Junior Jonathan Behar competed in the meet, but was unable to finish after injuring himself on one of his dives.
To prepare for CCS, the divers will use a slightly different practice strategy.
“Divers usually focus on perfecting easy dives, but CCS is different because you have to focus on harder dives to prevent yourself from being cut in the first or second round,” Captain senior Lindsay Emrick said.
The CCS competition for the girls will take place next Friday, May 10, and will take place on Saturday, May 11 for the boys.
