Diving Finishes Off Season On A Strong Note

The diving team finished off its season today, Tuesday May 1 with a strong showing at the league championships. The championships were hosted by LAHS.

Despite a small and largely inexperienced roster, the diving team put up together a solid effort and many individuals were able to place well overall.

Sophomore Austin Campitelli took third in the varsity girls competition, and junior Miles Contreras took third in the varsity boys competition. For Miles, who began diving this year, the third place finish marks a huge improvement over the beginning of the season.

“There’s just been so much improvement that’s been going on on the team,” Miles said. “Everyone’s gotten a lot better.”

However, the team isn’t entirely inexperienced. After solid finishes at leagues, both junior Lindsay Emrick and sophomore Austin Campitelli are gearing up for CCS.

Whether divers ended their season today or have hopes for further postseason success, all can agree that they’ve come a long way from the beginning of the season.

“It’s definitely been a good season,” Miles said.
