DECA Club Attends First Conference

The Distributive Education Club of America (DECA) went to the annual Leadership Development and Competitive Excellence (LDCE) conference last weekend, from Friday, November 16 to Sunday, November 18. In the first conference of the year, club members spent their time listening to inspirational speakers and learning more about how to run DECA chapters.

“DECA is a business club that helps budding entrepreneurs in high school and in college learn more about business and how to develop their skills in finance, marketing, hospitality, among other things” junior Lillian Zhou said.

Among the many speakers at the LDCE conference was Charles Huang, the co-founder of Guitar Hero, who spoke about entrepreneurship ventures and business opportunities in the real world.

“The conference was really awesome,” President senior Brian Chen said. “I really think it’s a truly unique opportunity for us to be able to go to these conferences.”

DECA is slated to compete in its first real competition on Friday, January 4 in the Silicon Valley DECA Career Development Conference.
