Club to hold comedy event tomorrow

Juntos will be holding a stand-up comedy night tomorrow, Thursday, January 21 at 7 p.m. in the Eagle Theatre.

The comedy show will feature two comedy troupes. Inoperable Humor, the improvisational comedy group from Santa Clara University, will perform first. Inoperable Humor is a student-run group that performs both improvisational comedy and planned sketches.

Scott Levin, ’07, and the Immediate Gratification Players, his comedy troupe from Harvard, will be featured in the second act. The Immediate Gratification Players (IGP) specialize in long-form improvisation, in which the show is similar to a full-length play or Broadway-style musical.

According to Vice President junior Carolyn Yang, since Juntos originally started as a tutoring club for Spanish ELD students, the club decided to donate the proceeds from the comedy night to a charity involving Latin students.

“We decided to donate to [Sunday Friends] because we’re raising awareness about the Latino community,” Carolyn said. “The charity provides school supplies for children.”

Juntos will be sending all proceeds from the comedy night to Sunday Friends, which is based in San Jose.

Tickets for the comedy show will cost $5 beforehand and $7 at the door.
