All seven Los Altos City Council candidates answered questions in last night’s forum.

City Council candidates speak about priorities at forum

All seven candidates for the upcoming Los Altos City Council race participated in a forum yesterday at 7 p.m. Candidates were all given the same set of questions, asked by panelists from The Town Crier, The Talon and The Oracle, Mountain View High School’s student newspaper.

Read on for a summary of the discussion, or watch the full forum video here.

Note: Many candidates had issues with unmuting, hearing questions and seeing the timer. Because of this, many candidates did not have the chance to fully answer questions.

What do you bring to the table? What are your top initiatives?

Should the City fund police or social programs to decrease burglaries? How can the City ensure wildfire safety?

What would you do to improve Los Altos’ financial footing? Do you think the City should have pursued the 40 Main street lawsuit to trial and appeal?

What’s your take on affordable housing? What would be your priorities for implementing the Downtown Vision Plan? How do you plan to best support local businesses?
