The cheer team won in a competition on Saturday, January 14 against Notre Dame High School, last year’s national champions boasting a three year record of being undefeated.

“Everyone was screaming,” junior Cathy Liu said. “Everyone worked really hard so we really deserved it.”

The team lost two members before the competition, causing it to change its routines and practice every day.The work paid off, as the team created a new record by receiving a score higher than previous scores in the past two years. While most teams receive scores in the 80s, LAHS received over 90 out of 100 possible points.

The cheer team will be competing at the California Open at UC Davis on Sunday, February 5.
