During the beginning of fifth period a minor power outage affected the entire school on Monday, October 18.
Principal Wynne Satterwhite said it was likely to have been through all of Los Altos, as a city electrical problem.
As a result computers, clocks, some lights and most electrically-based appliances went out.
This posed a particular problem for guest STEM speaker Jen Heldmann, who discussed space exploration and water on Mars. Her microphone shut off, as did all the lights in the theater. For the few minutes the school was without power, she continued her presentation without a power point, and spoke without a microphone.

The school is still investigating the cause of the power surge, but anticipates the slip was not a school issue.
