Boys Water Polo Dominates Lynbrook 19-10

The varsity boys water polo team beat Lynbrook 19-10 at home on Thursday, October 17.

“We started off a bit slow in the first quarter,” senior Ryan Seltzer said. “But in the second quarter it [became] pretty obvious we were going to crush them.”

Because the team took control of the game in the first half, non-starters from the bench were given the opportunity to get in some solid game time.

“It was a good game to work on our bench players’ abilities–our bombsquad,” Ryan said.

Senior Sam Lisbonne led the team’s scoring with an impressive nine goals, however, the most memorable goals of the evening came from two juniors, who both netted their first goals of the season in the same game.

“The highlight was that Cameron Hayes and Jason Lai…both scored their first goals of the season,” senior Surya Ram said.

The game versus Lynbrook demonstrated the depth of the water polo team this year.

“We played really cohesively,” junior Kenneth Moussavian said. “In previous seasons, one player would score most of the goals, and maybe one other person would score another goal, but in this game we had a really wide distribution of goals, which is really important.”
