Boys Water Polo Dominates Los Gatos 12-6

In its first home game of the season, the boys water polo team dominated Los Gatos today, September 26, 12-6. The Eagles’ victory is credited to their strong, tight defense and a cohesive offense led by the senior players.

Captain senior Sam Lisbonne led the team with seven goals, including an exceptionally swift backhand shot that resulted in a goal late in the second quarter. Seniors Ryan Seltzer and Jordan Stout each contributed two goals and junior Montana Goloubef scored one goal, respectively.

“I feel like we did a good job splitting our offense and making sure everyone was participating,” Sam said. “It was really exciting to see everyone contribute in a way we haven’t yet this season.”

While the seniors succeeded on offense, junior goalie Dane Grosvenor consistently blocked Los Gatos’ shots with stunning accuracy. Although the Eagles say other aspects of defense are important, Dane’s performance tonight demonstrated solid skill and was an essential force in the team’s victory.

“Dane made a lot of really big saves,” Jordan said. “Every time we were unable to block a shot he was able to do it. That’s key.”

Recently the Eagles have been focusing on creating a stronger, more pointed defense and keeping the other team’s goals to a minimum.

“One of our main focuses is on keeping the opposing team’s score under ten,” Jordan said. “When we do this we have a very good chance of winning.”

The team looks to continue their success throughout the season and further improve its game. The Eagles will play in the Saint Francis Tournament, from Friday, September 27 to Saturday, September 28.
