Boys Soccer Ties 1-1 With Gunn Titans

In its second game this week, the boys varsity soccer team tied with the Gunn Titans 1-1 today, January 13.

Following a tough loss 0 -1 against Mountain View High School (MVHS) on Wednesday, January 11, LAHS began the game with a different lineup in order to put fresh legs out on the field. Both teams started out slowly, and the first half ended scoreless.

“We were kind of grinding, especially the guys that played MVHS earlier in the week,” Captain senior Lucas Champenois said.

Midway through the second half, senior Aaron Berube fired a shot past the Gunn keeper to give LAHS the lead. According to Champenois, LAHS stepped back after the goal, giving Gunn the opportunity to strike.

With ten minutes left to play, Gunn scored the equalizer and tied the game 1-1.

“In the first half, we didn’t really get in our game,” Champenois said. “Second half, we picked it up. It was a Friday game, and in the end, it was just a matter of fitness.”

The team’s next game is against Saratoga at home on Wednesday, January 18 at 3:30 p.m.
