Boys Soccer Strikes Early, Not Enough to Beat MVHS

After Eagles forward senior Juan Morales scored less than five minutes into the soccer game, it seemed as if the Eagles were ready to take control over Mountain View. The quick goal however proved to be the only goal for Los Altos, as they fell 2-1 in their rival game.

In the first half, there both teams played with speed and physicality, making for a high-paced and energetic game. The Eagles defense consistently stopped anything in the air and the team’s ball control allowed for back-and-forth passing combinations. One of the most notable combinations led to the Eagles goal when midfielder senior Jacob Valadez sent a through ball to forward Juan, who then beat out the goalie on a one-on-one.

After a had fought first half where both MVHS and LAHS had quality scoring chances, the second half belonged to MVHS. The game settled in the second until MVHS scored off a header. After the goal, Eagles goalie junior Lucas Champenois was then forced to make some crucial saves to keep the game tied at 1-1.

MVHS then scored a quick counter attack goal that ended up being the game winning goal. The late goal caused a drop in energy for players and fans alike, as the Eagles were unable to surmount a comeback.

Despite the loss, the Eagles have still secured a CCS position.
