Baseball Defeats Los Gatos 14-11

The baseball team beat Los Gatos 14-11 today, March 21 in a high scoring offensive battle.

Los Gatos opened up the game, taking a 3-0 lead early in the first inning. However, LAHS answered with another three runs to tie the game up. Throughout the first few innings, this back and forth battle continued as both teams fought for the lead.

It wasn’t until the fifth inning that LAHStook a decisive lead, scoring eight consecutive runs to blow open the game.

“It was one of those innings with a couple clutch at bats, and that’s really when we broke the game open,” Assistant Coach Joey Fulcher said.

Key offensive players throughout the game included senior Luke Wiechec, who totaled three home runs, and junior Steven McClean, a “catalyst” for the offense, who hit a double and triple.

Defensively, pitcher senior Joe Chedid opened up the game as pitcher for the Eagles, and pitcher senior Simon Rosenbaum closed off the game to seal the victory.

After a strong season last year where the they placed second in CCS, the team has set its sights high for the rest of the season. This victory puts them at first in CCS, and they will continue to strive for a CCS championship for the rest of the season.

“Our expectations are pretty high this season, we are expecting to get back to the CCS playoffs and make a run at it,” Fulcher said.
