Baseball Blows Out Wilcox 7-1

The varsity baseball team claimed its sixth consecutive league win with a 7-1 blowout victory against the Wilcox High School Chargers today, March 30. The team’s strong hitting in the early innings put the game out of the Chargers’ reach.

“We got to their top pitcher early and knocked him out of the game with some solid hitting,” head coach Sandy Wihtol said.

However, the team’s rampant hitting slowed down after the Chargers’ reliever came into the game.

“We settled down facing a difficult-to-time, off-speed pitcher,” Wihtol said.

First baseman senior Nolan O’Such had an especially strong outing in terms of the offense he provided to the team.

“[Nolan] went 3 for 3 with a walk, a double and a key run batted in,” Wihtol said.

His contributions were not only limited to great offensive production. Nolan also demonstrated keen awareness defensively.

“Nolan O’Such was awesome at the plate and in the field,” Wihtol said. “He made some tough plays defensively at first base.”

Wihtol was satisfied with his team’s sweep of the Chargers. The Eagles look to score their seventh consecutive league victory at Valley Christian High School on Tuesday, April 4.

“It is always a great week to beat Wilcox twice,” Wihtol said.
