Badminton Falls to Saratoga

The badminton team lost against Saratoga High School today, April 2. The varsity team fell 6-24. The team has been adjusting to the upper De Anza Division after succeeding last season in the El Camino Division.

“[We’re] getting a little more confident with their styles of gameplay,” head coach Stefaan Lodge said. “They’re getting used to playing the [upper divisions].”

While most of the results favored Saratoga, there were still several highlights in the Eagles game. Senior Sarah Corner and freshmen Alice Dai both claimed victories in girls singles and the freshman team of Stephanie Lee and Helena Chi won girls doubles.

“We actually split a lot of the top matches,” Lodge said.

Varsity members of the team will be going to the Silver Creek Tournament on Saturday for the team to continue to build on its experience in the upper division.

“What we’ve got to do is pick it up, that’s I’m taking varsity kids to the varsity tournament this weekend …to play against other schools and get experience and, hopefully gain more confidence,” Lodge said.

The Eagles next league match will be an away game against Gunn on Tuesday, April 16.
