Badminton Defeats Palo Alto 19-11, Ranked First in Division

Members of the badminton team faced off against Palo Alto in the large gym today, April 24, and defeated their rivals 19-11. Securing this victory against Palo Alto means that the Eagles are now ranked first in the El Camino division.

The number one varsity boys singles player freshman Albert Li won 15-0 and 15-2 against his opponent, while the varsity doubles team of senior Sophia Chan and junior Miaulian Chang won 15-5 and 15-7.

In one of the highlights of the match, number one varsity mixed seniors Ethan Ming and Thao Tran defeated their opponents 15-6, 17-14 and 15-7.

“It went really well,” Thao said. “We kept pushing and we never stopped. We took our time and we never really let them get to us … go hard or go home.”

The team’s next game will be on Thursday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. against Mountain View High School (MVHS).
