ASB Decides Homecoming Theme

Assistant Principal Cristy Dawson announced this year’s homecoming theme today, September 25: “The British are (Home)Coming.”

The theme is derived from the 1960’s expression, “British Invasion”, which referred to the Beatles’ explosion of popularity in America.

With the recent popularity of One Direction and other British bands, people are noticing what seems to be a connection between the past and present.

“Anything British, whether it’s movies, music or history, is fair game for halls, floats and dress-up days,” ASB Vice President senior Rachel Pinkelman said.

Students can expect to see many decorations pertaining to British history and popular cultural references, such as the “Keep Calm and Carry On” sign. The British used the sign for propaganda during World War II in order to prevent riots and national fear from rising.
