Art Trip to San Francisco Postponed

Art teacher Alice Araneda’s coordinated field trip to the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco on Tuesday, January 11 was canceled due to a transportation mistake. Instead of boarding the bus after second and returning during seventh, students waited outside until the beginning of fourth, when they were sent back to their classes.

According to Araneda, paperwork for the bus was filled out in September, and given to the office. After filling out the notice for 10am the morning of Saturday, January 1, Araneda corrected a confirmation letter which had the wrong date and time. Despite Araneda’s constant checking up on her plans, confusion between the office and the bus company dropped the ball for roughly twenty students and two adult chaperones.

At first, the office informed Araneda that there had been a mix-up, and the bus would arrive at 11 and not 10. But around 11:30, Principal Wynne Satterwhite informed Araneda and the students attending the field trip that the bus company said they had never received the order.

Although Satterwhite and the office tried to organize alternative modes of transportation, the shuttle service would have been able to give the group a ride no earlier than 12:30, 15 minutes after their reservation for the workshop at the museum in San Francisco.

Though Araneda was forced to cancel her appointment with the Asian Art Museum, they gladly offered to reschedule the trip for some time in the near future.
