Heather Sangster

Volleyball
Sophomore Heather Sangster plays middle blocker on the varsity girls volleyball team.

This is her first year on varsity, but Heather has been playing volleyball for the past seven years, mostly with Eclipse Volleyball Club. She said that practicing with the school’s team has helped her performance.

“Being on varsity has made me a stronger player,” Heather said. “The team is really supportive of everyone, so it has made me a more confident player.”

Head Coach Jason Kennedy said that Heather has been a great addition to the varsity team and is an “invaluable asset to the team’s chemistry and performance.”

“Heather has done a great job this season,” Kennedy said. “It’s hard for a sophomore to come in and establish themself as a leader on a competitive varsity team, but Heather really stepped up to the challenge and brings energy and firepower to every match.”

Josh Cohen

Cross Country
Freshman Josh Cohen is one of two freshmen who has started competing on the varsity cross country team recently.

Josh has been running for two years, picking up the sport when he decided to join the Egan cross country team in seventh grade.

Josh said that he has stuck with the sport because he loves “being in good shape” and “the feeling of accomplishment that a long run or successful race always brings.”

Josh is just happy feeling “successful whenever [he] can get a [personal record].”

“I am not so much concerned with placing,” Josh said. “If I improve on previous times, then I am satisfied.”

Josh feels like he only could have gotten this far with the help and encouragement of his team.

He also feels like he couldn’t have gotten to this point without the encouragement of his team.

“[We have been succeeding] throughout the season,” Josh said. “I have been extremely happy to be able to contribute to the team with my meet times.”
