More than 2,800 bikers from the San Jose Bike Club biked through San Antonio and Downtown Los Altos around 11 p.m. last Friday, September 17.
The event, titled “Ride Like a Pirate,” encouraged bikers to dress up as pirates and to bike through the streets of the Bay Area. The marathon started at around 7 p.m. at the Hellyer Park Veldrome in San Jose, and ended at Foothill College.
“I was exiting the freeway and merging onto Foothill Expressway when all of a sudden I saw a large group of cyclists biking at night with these really bright lights and loud music,” sophomore Ciera Pastruel said.
According to Ciera, everyone was dressed in pirate gear and there were more than 1,000 bicyclists.
The San Jose Bike Party holds many biking events throughout the year, and supports a community through biking.
